The campaign team of Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong has issued a strong rebuttal to a misleading report by JoyNews that falsely claimed the Assin Central MP delivered “tribal tirades” or urged Akans to “reject minorities.”
In a statement signed by Campaign Spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng, Esq., the team described the report as “deceptive, inflammatory, and inconsistent with the facts.” It clarified that Hon. Agyapong’s remarks were not tribal in nature but a direct response to rising levels of tribal intimidation his team and supporters have faced in the North ahead of the party primaries.
The statement further condemned attempts by certain influential figures and MPs to coerce delegates along tribal lines, warning that such acts threaten party unity.
“Ken Agyapong will not remain silent while his supporters suffer intimidation or ostracism for exercising their democratic rights,” the release stated, reaffirming the campaign’s commitment to unity, mutual respect, and issue-based politics.
The campaign also rejected ongoing efforts by some actors to exploit tribal sentiments in the North for sympathy in the South, describing such tactics as divisive and unpatriotic.
For over three decades, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong has built businesses, created jobs, and supported communities across Ghana’s regions without bias. The campaign therefore urged JoyNews to uphold accuracy, fairness, and professionalism in its reportage.
“Our campaign stands for fairness, consistency, and respect for all. We remain focused on unity and the collective progress of our great party,” the statement concluded.
