Presidential aspirant Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong has delivered one of his strongest messages yet to internal detractors within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), particularly those in the Western Region who he says have suddenly forgotten his longstanding contributions.
Speaking in a no-nonsense address, Hon. Agyapong reminded party members of the massive logistical support he single-handedly provided during critical election periods.
“In 2016, I gave the Western Region 28 pickups. The constituency secretary can confirm it,” he stated. “Where were all the so-called ‘men’ when I was using my own resources to help us win more seats?”
He expressed frustration that those he helped elevate now attempt to undermine and disrespect him simply because he chose silence in the interest of party unity.
“Today, because I didn’t bring logistics, how many seats has Western Region won? When people become successful, they behave as if they got there on their own,” he said.
Agyapong further criticized individuals who twist his statements to damage his presidential campaign while calling someone who prematurely conceded elections — even before counting was complete — a “presidential material.”
“What sense does it make to concede defeat early when MPs were still counting their votes and lost their seats as a result?” he questioned. “This same person lost 2.7 million votes that President Akufo-Addo left behind.”
He emphasized that he has never been afraid to speak the truth and challenged his detractors to explain how they made the money they flaunt today.
“When I bought 245 pickups with my own money, where were they?” he asked. “Today they say they have money. Ask them how they made that money.”
The NPP stalwart warned that although he has maintained calm for the sake of party unity, continuous provocation will force him to respond decisively.
“If they make a mistake and I react even once, I will give them a showdown,” he declared.
