Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong has expressed profound grief following reports of a deadly attack in Burkina Faso that claimed the lives of several innocent people, including some Ghanaians.
In a statement shared on his official X page, the former presidential aspirant conveyed his condolences to the affected families and described the incident as a senseless act of violence that has shaken the sub-region.
“I am deeply saddened by the reported attack in Burkina Faso that has claimed the lives of innocent people, including some of our fellow Ghanaians,” he stated. “My thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones in this senseless act of violence. No family should have to endure such pain, and as a nation we share in your grief.”
Hon. Agyapong urged the Government of Ghana to intensify collaboration with the Burkinabè authorities and regional partners to ensure the safety of Ghanaians living and working outside the country.
“The security of our citizens, wherever they may be, must remain a top priority,” he emphasized.
He further noted that terrorism and violent extremism continue to pose significant threats to peace and stability within West Africa, describing the attack as a stark reminder of the urgent need for enhanced regional cooperation, intelligence sharing, and decisive action to protect lives.
Concluding his statement, he prayed for the souls of the departed and affirmed Ghana’s solidarity with the bereaved families.
“May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace. Ghana mourns with you.”
