I have received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana and wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was an iconic figure in Ghana’s political and social history, a woman of courage, conviction, and an unyielding commitment to the empowerment of women and the advancement of our nation. Through her leadership in the 31st December Women’s Movement, she championed the cause of women’s rights and opened doors for many to find their voice and dignity in public life.

Her passing is not only a great loss to her family but also to Ghana, which she served with passion and distinction.

On behalf of my family, my campaign team, and the New Patriotic Party fraternity, I extend my deepest condolences to the Rawlings family, National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP) and all who mourn this great Ghanaian woman. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
